RSS ? what's that ?

Thanks to RSS, you can easily be notified of the updates from the those sites you want to keep track of, as soon as they are published, without the need to actually visit those sites (which can rapidly become a major burden if you frequent too many sites).

To read RSS feeds, you need something called 'news reader'. This is a software whose purpose is to check the RSS feeds and delivers to you any new article that has been added. News readers come in several forms, some are downloadable applications while others are website based (special websites that let you keep track of your feed subscriptions). Which one you want to use is entirely up to you, however it's important to note that when using a website based news reader you'll be able to read your feeds from any computer and when using a downloadable software application you'll be able to read them only from the computer where the news reader application have been installed. This is somehow comparable as reading your mails with a web based service like hotmail and reading your mails with a standalone application like Outlook.

How to subscribe depends on what kind of news reader you use, in some cases you can drag the URL of the feed into the news reader and in other cases you'll have to copy and paste the feed address.
